Day 1: Arrival at Paro International Airport

Day 1: Transfer to Thimphu(Distance 53 Kms | 30 miles | Drive time: 5 -hour approx | Altitude: 2320m/7610ft)

Journey to Thimphu

Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Despite being the country’s largest city, Thimphu maintains a serene and charming atmosphere. The city is characterized by its distinct Bhutanese architecture, with buildings adorned with intricate woodwork and traditional motifs.

The Takin Preservation Center, located near Thimphu, Bhutan, is a sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of the nation's unique and revered animal, the takin. Situated amidst the tranquil forests just outside Thimphu, the center provides a protected environment for these rare mammals. Its expansive enclosures allow takins to roam freely and engage in natural behaviors while offering visitors the opportunity to observe them up close. Transfer to Punakha: (Distance 71Kms/ 44 miles | Drive time: 2 1 hours approx |Altitude: 1200m/3937f)

Dochula Pass

Dochula Pass, a scenic mountain pass situated between Thimphu and Punakha in Bhutan, stands at an elevation of 3,100 meters. Adorned with 108 chortens, it serves as a poignant tribute to Bhutanese soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Punakha Dzong

It holds historical significance and continues to be an active religious center and administrative headquarters in Bhutan.

Punakha Suspension Bridge

At 160m long, this bridge northeast of Punakha Dzong is one of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges and it’s fun to cross the swaying, prayer-flag-draped walkway over the Pho Chhu. The drive here from the dzong takes you past a royal palace and a cremation ground.

Day 2 Evening: Transfer to Paro (Distance: 145 Kms / 90 miles | Drive Time: 5 hours approx | Altitude: 2195m / 7200ft)

Paro Dzong

Paro Dzong, also known as Rinpung Dzong, is one of Bhutan’s most striking fortresses, located on a steep hill overlooking the Paro Valley. Built in the 17th century, it serves both as a monastic and administrative center. The dzong is an architectural marvel with massive walls, intricate woodwork, and vibrant murals depicting Buddhist legends. Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery)

Paro Taktsang is one of Bhutan's most revered and spectacular monasteries, perched dramatically on a cliffside. It holds immense religious significance as the sacred site where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century, introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. The monastery complex includes temples, meditation caves, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking lush valleys. The hike to Taktsang is a spiritual and scenic journey, rewarding visitors with awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains. Day 4: Transfer to Paro International Airport
